Featured Artist:
Heather C.

“I have been painting for more than two years now. I feel sometimes that my artwork is able to express emotionally more than I can with my words. Sometimes when I work on a piece, my feelings change at different times while I am painting. I’m always proud of my work and it makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something.”

Artistic Approach
Heather’s artwork is all about feelings. She likes to use shape, form and texture to convey a mood. Heather has used paint, fabric, re-purposed materials, clay, brushes, sponges and her hands to create art.

Chosen from more than 2,000 entries, one of a series of four paintings, “Summer” wins top award and is permanently displayed in Washington, DC

We believe that everyone, given opportunity and support can paint, the paintings on the right are proof of that belief. Fifteen artists with profound disabilities collaborated on depicting the the four seasons utilizing different techniques through abstract art: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Utilizing their chosen mediums, the artist produced an amalgam of perspectives of each seasons energy.

Once the series was finished, the paintings were submitted into a nationwide contest with more than 2,000 entries. We are honored to report that one of the paintings “Summer” was chosen to be permanently displayed in the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CARF-CACC) building in Washington, DC.
